NSDA Clusters

The Network for Sustainable and Diversified Agriculture (NSDA) has adopted the cluster principle based on the Cairns Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) model, for its operations and information dissemination.

The structure and function of the Network is reliant mainly on member volunteers who are supported by a Management Committee made up of representatives of a number of Cluster Groups, each of which represents one specific focus of the Network (see diagram below). The Cluster Groups include some existing Cairns Regional Economic Development Corporarion (CREDC) business clusters, such as Australian Tropical Foods, Biotechnology North Queensland (BioNQ), the emerging Cut Flower and Native Foliage cluster and other groupings like the Queensland Organic Producers Association. Other cluster representatives are drawn from the horticultural growers and agricultural producers, currently unstructured or partially structured sectors, such as the forestry/wood products sector, and the research and education communities.

NSDA would like to take this opportunity to formally acknowledge the support and inspiration given to our organisation by the Cairns Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC). From the initial formative stages of NSDA, CREDC was instrumental in assisting with the structure of our Network, enabling us to develop a cluster model based on CREDC's own highly successful model. The departure of CREDC from the economic development scene will be a great loss to Far North Queensland.
