In March 2008, the Premier Anna Bligh announced plans for three annual regional women’s symposiums beginning this year. The 2008 Rural Women’s Symposium will be held during August in Roma.
The Rural Women’s Symposium is a Blueprint for the Bush initiative organised by Queensland Government and Blueprint for the Bush partners.
The theme for the 2008 symposium is:

The purpose of the symposium is to develop ideas and create solutions to improve the ‘liveability’ of rural communities for women.
The Symposium is first and foremost about YOU, as women, living in rural communities. We want to find out what aspects of life in a rural community you think help keep women in rural communities and what attracts women to move and stay in rural areas.
Currently we are looking for viewpoints and suggestions from local women in rural communities to shape the 2008 Symposium. As rural women you know most about this topic – so we’re asking you to help us!
