| Community Forums Shaping the Future of the Far North |
|
The Cairns and Far North Environment Centre is hosting a series of community forums in regional centres, including Kuranda, Mossman, Innisfail, and Atherton, to discuss concerns and aspirations for the FNQ 2025 Regional Plan. The FNQ2025 Regional Plan is currently being developed by the State government and will guide and direct land use planning and development in our region up to the year 2025.
CAFNEC seeks to facilitate community debate, discussion and deliberations around the Plan, in order to develop a Plan which is sensitive to our particular community, environment and which ensures future sustainability.
After a short presentation from CAFNEC staff and the Department of Local Government, a panel of representatives from community and government will participate in a facilitated group discussion that will seek to gather information on community ideas and ideals. This information will directly inform State Government Planners of community feelings and will also help CAFNEC in formulating its input into the regional plan. If you are concerned about development, environment or community values in your area, please participate in one of these forums to voice your views, or listen to the perspectives of other members of your community.
