Call for Applications
Farmers in the Mareeba-Dimbulah Water Supply Area of the Mitchell River Catchment are invited to apply for grants of up to $10,000 to implement farm practices that improve profitability and sustainability on farms, reduce soil and nutrient loss, and improve water quality.
Grants will be awarded to individual farmers or community/industry groups to help offset the cost of implementing new and innovative best management practices. Grant applications will be assessed on a competitive basis. Applicants will be expected to include in-kind or financial contributions of at least 50% of the overall project costs.

The Cairns and Far North Environment Centre is hosting a series of community forums in regional centres, including Kuranda, Mossman, Innisfail, and Atherton, to discuss concerns and aspirations for the FNQ 2025 Regional Plan. The FNQ2025 Regional Plan is currently being developed by the State government and will guide and direct land use planning and development in our region up to the year 2025.

The 2007 round of the In-Market Experience Scholarships is now open. The 2007 round will close 5.00pm EST 19 July 2007. Each scholarship of $12,500 will help managers or emerging managers from small-to-medium sized agribusiness work for 3 months to 1 year to:
- define opportunities for their product, service or technology
- fully participate in alliances
- build relationships with potential customers
- undertake business- or sector-specific courses
- gain experience in new areas of business and markets,
- and seek expert advice.
