In 2006, the Queensland Government committed to the development of a statutory regional plan for the FNQ region. The FNQ2025 Draft Regional Plan is intended to guide and manage development within the region over the next twenty years. The preparation of the draft regional plan has been a collaborative undertaking across all levels of government with key stakeholders and input from the community.

The people of this region have a particular connection with the natural and rural landscapes; encompassing two World Heritage Areas, the Wet Tropics and the Great Barrier Reef.  The region also includes spectacular coastal views, abundant and fertile rural lands and sparkling waterfalls and waterways.

The release of the draft regional plan will provide the community with an opportunity to comment and file submissions. This presentation provides a brief overview of the FNQ2025 draft regional plan: its objectives, strategic direction, preferred pattern of development, regulatory provisions and most importantly – how to access the plan and make comment.

BIOGRAPHY:
Robin Clark has a Masters of Environmental Science Degree together with over 20 years planning experience.  Her focus has been primarily on coastal and marine planning.   Robin was involved with the Trinity Inlet Management Plan, the Cape York State Marine Park and the Coastal Management Plan for the Wet Tropics.

In 1999, whilst working in Western Australia for the Department of Fisheries, Robin managed the State’s multi-million dollar pearling industry.  During this period she assisted with the resolution of land-use conflicts over pearling leases in the Kimberley, maintained export approval and ‘survived’ a National Competition Policy assessment of the industry.

Returning to Cairns in 2005, Robin has since worked with the Department of Fisheries, Natural Resources and Water,  before accepting the management role with Regional Planning - Department of Infrastructure and Planning.

Robin is also a keen yachty, canoeist and bushwalker.
